he American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) posted 2 practice alerts to address issues in cardiac monitoring in 2004 and updated them in April 2008. The alerts addressed 2 main reasons for use of cardiac bedside monitoring. The first reason is to detect and provide early intervention for episodes of myocardial ischemia and injury.
